Look, look, I dug them out. Joan Chen played a deaf and dumb girl, Yamei, in Qingchun (青春) who cried when Mao Zedong waived at the sea of mobilized youths. She was, of course, cured by some Communist Party doctor and could hear and speak again. We all have something embarrassing in our past which we don't want to remember, huh?
Aubrey is a radio host, an author, and a Ph.D. student. She currently hosts a weekly book review show for KMRB. She graduated from the University of Hong Kong with 1st-Class Honours, wrote columns for 《年青人周報》, 《快報》, 《新報》, 《Magpaper》, 《HomeNet》, 《星島日報》, 《姊妹》, 《雅舍》 and released her book 《Bcc》(a collection of short stories) in Hong Kong. She then got very sick, moved to the States and spent a few years in a cave. She finally found her home in Los Angeles, California and started writing again for a Downtown LA blog, the print version of this L.A. women's magazine, hosted a TV show for Viola TV and is now pursuing her Ph.D. degree in Comparative Literature at The University of California, Irvine. She is also finding time to write her second book 《影象詩記》 (a collection of poems about not only watching but also feeling movies) between classes like a chicken with its head cut off.
